9. James HARRIS was christened on 25 Dec 1834 in Black Torrington, Devon, England.⁴⁶ He was born on 12 Feb 1835 in England. He appeared in the census in Jun 1841 in Black Torrington, Devon, England, age 6. He died on 26 Jun 1908 in St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota.⁴⁷ He was buried on 27 Jun 1908 in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.⁴⁸ He is reference number 77. The birth date of 12 February 1835 on the death certificate does not match with the christening record of 25 December 1834 found in Black Torrington, Devon, England.

James, like his brother Richard, chose to settle in a different county than the rest of the family. James settled in Walworth county, Wisconsin. He married Mary, last name unknown, in the late 1850s. They had 8 children. According to the 1870 cenus, James was able to read and write, unlike his older siblings, John and Mary.

James and Mary moved to Minneapolis with their daughter Roina, who married William Lufkin. James died on 26 January 1908 and is buried at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

James HARRIS and Mary L. FLITCROFT were married on 6 Sep 1857 in Walworth County, Wisconsin. They appeared in the census on 26 Jun 1860 in Sugar Creek, Walworth County, Wisconsin, age 30.⁴⁹ They appeared in the census on 27 Jul 1870 in Sugar Creek, Walworth County, Wisconsin, age 35.⁵⁰ They appeared in the census on 2 Jun 1880 in Sugar Creek Township, Walworth County, Wisconsin, age 45.⁵¹ Mary L. FLITCROFT was born about 1841 in New York. She died on 3 Sep 1902 in St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. She was buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.⁵² She is reference number 3901. James HARRIS and Mary L. FLITCROFT had the following children:
