16. David D.
PARSONS was born about 1846 in New York. Between 1875 and
1881 he was a School Superintendent in Richland County, Wisconsin.
He is reference number 4771. Taken from History of Crawford and
Richland Counties, Wisconsin - Union Publishing Company - Springfield, IL - 1884
Chapter 7 - National, State and County Representation. David D Parsons was
the next superintendent of schools. He was elected in November, 1875, and re-elected
in 1877 and 1879, serving six years. Mr. Parsons, was an Englishman by birth,
but grew up from boyhood in Richland county. He received a good education and
became a school teacher, which profession he was following at the time of his
first election. He remained here for some time after the expiration of his term
of office, and then removed to Missouri, where he still lives, engaged in farming.
He made an excellent officer; although he labored under the great disadvantage
of poor health.
Chapter 26 - Town of Ithaca. In the fall of 1860 the first high school
in the county was taught at Sextonville. Under the able management of Prof. Glasier
the school was a decided success, and became established upon firm footing. Succeeding
Prof. Glasier as principal, the following have served: David Parsons,
Timothy Moroney, J G Lamberson, N E Carver, E E Fowler, Mr. Farnham, G E Marshall
and R J Porter.
